I'm not sure whats funny about that, some kind of TV nerd humor?

just laughing at the fact that you bought into the fact that you need an HD antenna to get the HD signals. I've been using an old rabbit ear antenna for years and get all BR locals in HD.

I didn't buy into anything. I tried it with rabbit ears, no dice.

oh, well my bad then. I have heard people at stores saying you need a special HD antenna (which costs more money) to pick up the signals. It really boils down to how far from the towers you are.

hate to burst your bubble, but you aren't getting HD. I know you will argue this point, but with standard rabbit ears what is decoding the digital signal? If you have a built in converter on your TV then you are stretching the "no hd antenna needed" truth.

Hence the need for all of the new antennas for the upcoming digital conversion.

of course I have an HD tuner. What does that have to do with the type of antenna used to pick up the digital OTA signal?

CBS and NBC HD broadcasts are crap compared to FOX, ABC, ESPN

not on my tv....cbs and nbc are exponentially brighter and clearer than any of the abc stations...espn is one of the worst hd's out there.

It depends on your affiliate. WWL out of New Orleans is fantastic. WAFB in Baton Rouge is garbage regarding HD quality

well, that would have been helpful. your statement led someone to believe that you just plugged in your regular antenna to your TV.

note: a lot of people don't have built in converters. for instance, my flatscreen was one of the first panels with 1080i, and was just a panel without a tuner.
