Anyone watching this? It's out of Australia. I'm about 3 episodes into the first season, and I enjoy it quite a bit. I admit that I'm a sucker for Australia, urban fantasy, and modern mythologies (ala Gaiman).
Here is the synopsis:
Here is the synopsis:
quote:
In the near-future, an ancient species of superhumans from the Aboriginal Dreaming known as the Hairypeople battle for survival in a world that persecutes and exploits them with the ultimate goal of wiping them from the earth. Their only hope for the future comes in the form of a young and troubled Gumbaynggirr man named Koen who has reluctantly become a Cleverman, a mythical community leader with unique powers and a special connection between the present and the Dreaming, after the passing of his uncle.

Not really, though when I explained it to my son, I used that comparison to explain to him why people didn't like the Hairypeople. It has more politics, social commentary and mythology than the X-Men. I have a hard time putting my finger on the tone or a good comparison, really.
A bit of X-Men, a bit of Sense8, a bit of American Gods, and a bit of the Wire...

I watched the first season last year and suprisingly enjoyed it. I normally don’t like shows like this either.
