No, getting the NFL changed the game. Fox promoted the hell out of their shows and we all quit watching 60 minutes and watched Bart Simpson instead.
Long term results of NFL on Fox:
NFL became the biggest cash cow in TV history.
CBS lost the NFC but got back into the NFL with the AFC a few years later.
NBC lost out on the NFL for a long time but has gotten back in with Sunday nights.
ABC no longer has Monday night but their sister network ESPN has it.
You have to have cable to watch Mondy Night Football.
Fox is thought of as an equal to the three networks that had TV to themselves for decades.
