the odds of them driving down and kicking a FG FTW is greater than driving for a TD FTW...

2 inch line is different from midfield. Leaves the other team horrible field position.

That said, you take the chip shot with the clock. Zero lost this game in the off season by deciding special teams wasn't important.

That's just the frame of mind he works in now. He will play conservative because taking risks puts the pressure on him. He will always have a scapegoat to blame so that he will not be the one blamed

Because you are a loser, have always been a loser. And wish to continue to be a loser while firing Offensive coordinators for no reason

if we had a good reliable FG kicker im ok kicking it there, the fact he missed from 2 yrd and from what the 10 or 15 yd line i think, no you go for it because the way he was kicking, even from 2" it was a 50/50 he would miss it.

its playing safe trying not to lose rather then playing to win

Fans tend to be more forgiving if you go down fighting than if you play to not lose.

But I still understand the logic for kicking the FG because of the clock. Go for it and come up short, and you have to stop them three times, force a punt, get back down the field, and attempt a longer FG. Plus if the defense doesn't hold, a field goal beats you.

But if you get stuffed, which is extremely unlikely, ND is in terrible field position for a game winning drive. I'd trust getting that yard or giving my defense 99 yards to defend.

Plus your kicker is dogshit. That's a higher odds of him shanking it than you not getting that yard

Big difference of 49 vs 1 yard line though.

My point is that that play made O into what he is today. He's not taking those risks. That's what that article tells you.

Our kickers are bad. That kick was as likely to be made as we were to pick up the half yard.

Because coach O is in way over his head and is not qualified for the job.

It's a bowl game. There is nothing on the line like a conference championship. It's a glorified exhibition. Just go for it you pussy

well he made the fg, so this seems kind of moot doesn't it?

No. If it's just as much of a risk to get 3 as getting 6 play for the bigger payoff. It's even dumber to play it safe for 3 because it's not really that safe with our kickers.

I would have been fine with either call. That call is not why we lost

Yes it was. If you don't trust your guys to get an inch then you deserve to lose. Simple as that. That call made no sense
