Who was the first team to make their end zones checkerboard?

Just wondering. Was TN the first to do this or are they pretty much the only ones who still do it? TIA

A lot of stadiums used to have them- I know Legion Field did. Tennessee started using it in 1964, I imagine they weren't the first

So I think he's taking credit for it.

ETA: But of course Legion Field has used this pattern since the 1940's.
