Say a running back breaks off a 40 yard run. Gets tackled and pitches to his team mate who goes 25 yards an a touchdown.

That's what I thought. But I tried to over analyze it like a QB and receiver gets the TD.

Running back gets credited for a 40-yard run.
Teammate gets credited for a 25-yard touchdown run.
Obviously no pass/reception because it has to be a lateral to be legal.
