re: What problem did baseball sliding gloves solve?

We played a scrimmage church league softball game and a kid on the other team came out in eye black, sliding glove the whole deal…. He struck out 3 times and No he wasn’t special….. he wore his high school jersey. I think the kid hit 1 hard ball off me all year. He had swag till he swung the bat.
