Notice how EVERYONE ELSE backed off? He reached OVER the wall DIRECTLY ABOVE Alou's glove. He made a bonehead move. He didn't deserve the treatment he got, but it's bull shite to say he didn't do anything wrong.
I disagree with that overall. Here is the event in real time:
Here is a picture just before the ball lands:
There is one more fan who probably touches the ball if Bartman were not in his way. The ball was probably not going to land in the field of play, and anyone who has been to a lot of ballparks knows that the average fan kind of turns into a retard when the chance for a souvenir rears its head.
Would it have been more aware of their surroundings if Bartman and others backed off when they realized a play might be made on the ball? Of course. But mundane stupidity, of the sort the average person displays, doesn't merit being treated like a pariah.

You were trying to justify it by even bringing up that bs excuse that any other fan base would react the same way.

the other guy who sold out for the ball was a real douchebag. I bet it plays out a lot differently if that guy had touched the ball instead. I bet he would have thrust himself right in the middle of it, taken all the money, done all the interviews and literally thrived on his moment in the spotlight.
