It may actually hurt CFB and athletic depts more because the bigger ones now have to pump more funds into money losing ventures, but it will basically save the Olympic feeder system to team USA.

I suspect a federal grant program will probably be established soon by Congress and pump funding into these schools.

We'll see how it plays out.

This is the gist of the EO:

quote:

Prohibits third-party, pay-for-play payments to collegiate athletes.

Allows legitimate, fair-market-value compensation for athletes, such as brand endorsements.

Directs the Secretary of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board to clarify the employment status of student-athletes.

Requires preservation and, where possible, expansion of scholarship opportunities and competition in women’s and non-revenue sports.

Mandates schools with athletic revenue over $125 million to increase investment in non-revenue sports starting in the 2025–26 academic year.

Requires schools with athletic revenue over $50 million to maintain existing investment levels in non-revenue sports.

Establishes a commission to explore ways to support the preservation of collegiate athletic opportunities, involving athletes, schools, conferences, lawmakers, and industry leaders.

Directs federal authorities (e.g., Federal Trade Commission, Attorney General, Secretary of Education) to create policies supporting the future of college sports and training for U.S. Olympians.
