You would think Bode would win due to the shorter distance but he turned in TWO BIG races in the last 5 weeks. Kinda wonder if he has any gas left in the tank.
I always pull for the Derby winner in the Preakness because I want to see a damn Triple Crown again before I die.

Catch me up on what to look for when we are looking for Preakness winners?
I watched about 22 prep races on youtube before the Derby on horses that could hang with the pack and looked like they had the energy and kick to make it the distance (since the Derby is the longest race any horse runs to that point, atleast to my knowledge.)
The Preakness is slightly shorter than the Derby correct?

It is 1/16 shorter then the derby and will have 6 few horses entered. About 1/2 the field will be derby starters so you have fresh horses that by earnings are not as good. It seems like most of the time when a longshot wins the derby they don't win the Preakness but when a top favorite wins the derby the do really well which could go either way this year since IHA was not that big of an upset.

Yeah I just did research to answer my own question, and it is actually 110 yards shorter to be exact, a football field, which is a bigger deal than it would seem. Shackleford (The 2011 Preakness Winner) was nose and nose with Animal Kingdom at that point in the 2011 Derby and dropped back to 4th when it was all said and done.

Cheering for Iha
I think if someone goes after bode he may be vulnerable, but of no one does he wins easy.
I want a triple crown winner
And I've got 2 bluegrass cat's to cheer for this time!

Shackleford just kicked our horse's arse on derby day.
Hope they keep him a mile and under this year. He's so nice.

Good derby story
Pretty sure I linked it in the derby thread, but I loved this article.
Glad I took notice of Iha after his 43-1 win this winter

When is Gantry running again? Also is Rags running again?
Posted on 5/15/12 at 5:18 pm to Bho
They are looking at a few options with gantry. I promise I'll keep you updated!
That hop he had at the start kills me. He wouldn't have won, but hed have been closer at the end.
Rags is heading to the Belmont.

Dullahan as well. That should be a fine race in a few weeks.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll Have Another has a real shot at the Preakness. I'll be all over Went The Day Well on Saturday. Just need someone to challenge Bode early and Went The Day Well and Creative Cause (who ran a big race at Churchill but got lost in traffic) should be 1 2.

I forgot about wtdw. He impressed the shite out of me in the derby.
I'm hoping someone like dutrow is dumb enough to gun for the lead.
I reeeeaaallly would like to see bode have some pressure. If he wins that way I'll be much more impressed than if he canters around in 24, 48, 113, etc

Any Pimlico specialists headed for the gate?
Posted on 5/15/12 at 5:31 pm to Bho
They are calling tiger walk and pretension local. Guess I'll wait for the pps
Posted on 5/15/12 at 5:47 pm to Aspercel
I'm hearing Pretension too. He won at Pimlico on Derby Day going 1 1/16m in 1:45.70. My Adonis was in the field; finished third.
