This is why the B1G is taking USC and UCLA. They took the worst team in CFB just to get New York. Notre Dame has a National presence as well.

Stop looking for schools that are good fits or national rivals. They’re looking long game and trying to earn as much money as possible.

Is filled with Big Ten alum. They have as much or a larger presence as many Pac 12 teams that aren't from CA or AZ. The expanded footprint for a market already watching them is very good leverage in the media deal negotiations, ala Rutgers and Maryland. It isnabout talent. I mean, UCLA football hasn't been relevant for forever. But appeasing the big fish with a great program top to bottom, sans football as a partner, and it’s their biggest rival? It was a great call for the Big Ten, money wise.

Still hate the loss of regionalism.

They don't have New York. New York isn't a CFB or College sports town. Its Yankees.

L.A. is transplant central like NY, but due to no NFL for decades, USC is a huge draw...tons of Big10 fans, plus they travel like crazy...see Rose Bowls.

Winter weekender in L.A. in October to play UCLA at the the Rose oh, they comin'
.
Plus as someone mentioned, this is a battle between SEC-ESPN and Fox. Networks are driving this train.
