Most people forget this Ruston team had a three game lapse at the beginning of their district season. They almost lost to Ouachita, then lost to Neville and ASH. All three were good teams, but I think results against them with last years' team would have been different.

The fan base really wasn't happy over the scheduling of a couple of games in Texas, even though the team won all of their really tough pre-district schedule. Maybe the travel and fanfare wore them out. Maybe the conference games were a letdown after that schedule, Whatever it was, the team just didn't seem as focused when the district games started. I was not surprised they played so poorly against Central. This would have surprised me last year.

I’m just as surprised at ASH losing like they did. Outside the state championship I never watched Ruston live as I was always at my son’s game of course. I did watch them against Neville and ASH the next day. I watched some of the game against the Arkansas team where the backup QB who is a sophomore played, he looked legit. I do remember Ruston limping through district play. Neville was hot at the time, so was ASH.
