That’s the extent of my WTA discussion for today Moester
Hahahaha, hell Crack I’ll take whatever I can get when it comes to you and WTA tennis. I’m just distraught that Serena Williams is never going to get the Grand Slam record. Covid virus has completely screwed Serena out of it but it ain’t like Serena didn’t have her shots. I’m also scared Covid has screwed Rafa out of his shot at winning the men’s Grand Slam arms race. Novak is going to end up with the Slam record solely due to his younger age and the fact that Novak is an all surface player. I’ve already accepted it that the US Open isn’t happening in September. We’re talking about New York here it’s a pipe dream. I’ll check back in with you and Bunk tomorrow to see what the Tennis Channel has going on.

I would probably watch most of a real WTA event right now.
If the US Open doesn't happen, RG better be scrapped. I feel like they are 50/50. I just don't know what happens if a handful of players test positive mid-tournament. I guess you just default those people and advance people who test negative?

If the US Open was held in a different state there might have been a slight chance it would happen. But Bill de Blasio is too busy gargling black balls and charging white people with hate crimes to let it happen. Plus New York is the most chicken shite state in this cesspool Union.
Yea I’m a bitter, white trash, red neck, angry, bastard I admit it but I was SO looking forward to the US Open being played. Admins please let me vent I can’t bottle all this angst up. I gotta let it out.

Nice. At the office this morning, but I will check out whatever action is on this weekend. It looks like they were playing on grass in Berlin early in the week and now hardcourts for the weekend.
I think there will be more Spanish tennis, this weekend is in Valencia. Boring, but I'll take it.

Ok my bad buddy. I forgot you actually contribute to american society and are a real adult. I don’t have to babysit my nephews until 1:30 today so I’ll all in on WTA tennis until then.

The first official tourney will be the Palermo Open on clay in Italy. Looks like they were able to pull some big names.
ETA: Just noticed it’s all whites

So if Cincy and US Open are held in New York without fans
How many players in the top ~40 + qualies can even technically make it to "Cincy" and how many can make it out of the top 104 + 64 qualies to the US open
As far as I am aware Djokovic still has a Serbian passport and he is not even allowed to enter the European Union technically anymore even.
That means he is banned from the only two majors left this year if they even were to happen.
And then everyone from the EU is banned from the US technically. So like half top 15.
This is a mess

I’m not the one to ask YF12 I just watch the Tennis Channel and read this thread buddy. In my observation, Cincinnati nor The US Open will probably happen at all fans or not. Forrest Hills doesn’t give af about The US Open right now because of COVID and OMB. I don’t expect sports to return to normal until after November 3rd.
As for the Novak and his passport situation you mentioned, I’ve never heard anything about that ever. I’m more of a “Just The 4 Slams Only” tennis fan but Novak has never been prevented from playing in any country because he’s a Serb that I’m aware of. Monica Seles dominated the WTA whilst that crazy ethnic cleansing war was going on and Monica had no problems traveling or playing tennis. You need Bunk, Crack, or MV for reliable information.

Up until now there were not travel bans.
Serbia is not a European Union country so the EU has banned them from travel into the EU as of like this last week and as a non-extradition country for the United States it is last in line for travel.
If you hold a passport from Serbia you are not technically allowed in almost the entire world as it stands today.

Wow you have enlightened me on that one I was not aware of that Serbian - EU crapola at all. This is a serious situation because Novak is in the midst of a Grand Slam arms race. This COVID-19 shite has really fricked up tennis but the two players that are going to be hurt the most are Serena Williams and Rafa Nadal.

I know YF12, Bunk, and Crack y’all have better things to do on a Saturday night but the 2001 Wimbledon men’s final is on. I was watching it on my oil drilling rig on my off time back then. Goran Ivanisevic was just a pure serve and volley grass court machine. Attacked the net relentlessly.
Posted on 7/19/20 at 12:58 am to moester75
I think I remember watching that at 21 years old. He deserved a title after those 5-set final losses to Agassi and Sampras.

I loved Rafter, but he won his U.S. Opens. It was great to see Goran break through after so much heartbreak. I think that was a Monday final and super rowdy as it had a commoners feel. Funny how the 2001 final was Ivanisevic/Rafter and 2002 was Nalbandian/Hewitt. Tells you what you need to know.

Yes Goran had to win that 2001 Wimbledon he was the epitome of a grass court attack player. Today it looks like it’s tennis in Berlin in the airplane hanger or Czech Republic outdoor.

Dominic Thiem is playing some outstanding tennis on all three surfaces right now. He just killed it in Berlin. He’s world # 3 and it’s time for that Austro-Hungarian to hold up a Grand Slam trophy. If the US Open does happen Thiem is my pick to win it.

He just said he was really zoning in today. As long as he doesn't get the Rona, he may roll everybody when the tour gets going. 90% of these guys are going to be
in three out of five set matches.
