probably only hand he is snap calling with
Posted on 8/3/11 at 12:05 am to PokerChamp21
he's snapping with any J in that spot or even an over pair like QQ-KK-AA.
Posted on 8/3/11 at 12:07 am to Acreboy
no he isnt hachem shoved all in because he thought he could get him off and overpair because he is a tight nit , he probably tanks with QJ or worse and he probably gives a little thought to KJ or AJ because it half looks like Hachem has a bottom boat like 4s full of Js
Posted on 8/3/11 at 12:09 am to PokerChamp21
but because of how the hand played preflop you can take any Jx hand out of his range because he is a tight nit and he 3-bet so I believe Hachem specifically put him on QQ-AA scared of being beat.

yeah but as i said in the 2nd post he isnt 3 betting with AJ or KJ or anything like that so Hachem knows he can more than likely get him off unless he has quads.

I was up late last night and watching some videos on this site. Trikkur is a a good player and unlike deuces cracked he doesn't charge an insane amount for his knowledge. He also has articles up and I found this gem. I've read it before, but it was worth reading again.
The Evolution of a Poker Player
Acre I think you might get a lot out of reading through it...
Or anyone for that matter.
I enjoyed reading it again.
The Evolution of a Poker Player
quote:
Poker is discovered differently by many individuals. Clearly, if you’re reading this, you’ve received it a specific way. This essay is designed to describe a successful way to go about educating yourself about this game (a ‘method’ that many of you will be able to identify with), the pitfalls to avoid along that path, and what you can expect in the future. Although there are a variety of ways to go about discovering the game, including dreams of wanting to become the next half-witted accountant from Tennessee with a weight problem to make seven figures, there are specific channels to go about educating yourself on it. After many of you found poker and decided you wanted to get better at it, you picked up a poker book at your local bookstore. This book was in all likelihood terrible (with the exception of Super System), but nevertheless an integral part of your poker career. You learned about pot odds, or how to squeeze out an extra bet with two pair playing 3-6 limit, where the only person who can beat the rake in that game is Jerry Yang. Basic concepts, but fairly important ones nonetheless. Through these books, you learned to play tight. Tight was right. It worked. You might have won some money in home games or online- it seemed fairly simple enough, no one else was folding enough, so by folding a lot and only playing strong hands, you would have an advantage.
Acre I think you might get a lot out of reading through it...
Or anyone for that matter.

so what i got out of that was
1.) I just wasted money on Dan Harrington's books
2.) Play tight?
3.) We share the same opinion on Moneymaker.

Did you just read the quoted section? Because that's just the first paragraph of a very long article.
And to answer your questions...
1)No. Those are good books
2)The answer is always...it depends.
3)And Moneymaker is indeed an average player who so far has managed to get the best of Sammy Farha twice.
Read the whole thing.

Haha. He's much better than he was. That is for sure, but so is everyone else. I'm not a hater, and by average I mean he's an average tournament pro. Not great. Not bad. He's a prime example of what winning an event like the WSP can do for someone. It's akin to winning the Master's in golf. Just one week where everything goes right and the gods smile down on you can change your life forever. You have to have skills to put yourself in a position to take advantage of that moment, but winning it does not make you an elite great player, despite what ESPN would have us believe.
