Kind of a silly line that reflects "emotion" and "desperation" instead of facts.

Wakefield is 42, hasn't pitched since September (3 weeks ago), and has a losing record to begin with.

Sonnastine pitched 5 and 2/3 solid innings in Chicago last week and got the win after giving up only 3 hits with 1 walk.

Nobody who watched the Rays just rape the Red Sox pitching today (especially Lester) would have any reason to believe that Wakefield will hold the fort - at least not at those odds.

Please bet responsibly and visit www.ncpgambling.org if you feel you have a problem. Otherwise, you're welcome and enjoy!

Doesnt Wakfield have good stats against the Rays this year though?

Yeah, Lester did too though.

I may be overstating it a bit - I mean it's not like the oddsmakers are on crack - but the heavy Red Sox public is making this line very attractive for those who are willing to bet on the "underdog" AL Division champs.

I'm trending away from it as well I suppose. I'm not a big knuckeball guy though - there's always the chance it will just happen to be flat for whatever reason. Even if it isn't flat, he usually gets touched up for a few runs so the Rays would likely have a fighting chance regardless.

The big wildcard is the Rays' speed on the basepaths against Wakefield. If they can get some leadoff hitters on they can wreak havoc on the basepaths while those 60 MPH knucklers flutter to the plate.
