dude was great but he was in a system that allowed him to succeed. really makes it hard for me to consider him a once in a 5-10 year player when he had another RB on his team outperform him in 2 out of 3 years at USC

Agree with both of these.

I have nothing against him or SC, but that was also a time in which the rest of the Pac-10 was a veritable dumpster fire. Their list of opposing coaches was a laughing stock, including guys like Ty Willingham, Charlie Weis, Karl Dorrell, Mike Stoops, Mike Riley, and Dirk Koetter. The conference and their competition was a shell of what it is now, because that was before the Pac-10/12 upped the ante as far as coaching hires and salaries.

That being said, he was a great player on some great teams, but I think he tends to be a little overrated as far as his place in CFB history.
