If Dirk is half the player CP3 is how come the Mavs are 3rd in the West and the Hornets are 8th, despite equally mediocre supporting casts?

You say this as if you are 10+ games ahead of the Hornets. Last time I checked, 4.5 games behind is still a race.

Dirks cast was worse than CP3's back then. Now their casts are equal and Dirk is showing that he's the superior player.

Race my arse, Hornets aren't gonna sniff the Mavs this year, and everyone knows it.

Very impressed with the job Jeff Bower has done since he has taken over.

I think they need to focus on obtaining a solid SF. Someone who can score and play defense.

Point Guard is in great shape with CP3 and Collison

Shooting Guard is undetermined. If MT keeps playing the way he has that will be a big plus for the Hornets. We need a backup though. MoPete isn't cutting it.

We need the most work at SF. Peja is old and overpaid and Juju isn't quite what Hornets fans hoped he'd be. Posey is a solid backup. We need someone similar to Danny Granger (won't happen).

David West is a good Power Forward, but doesn't defend well or get enough rebs. I'd like to see the Hornets trade him for a banger, while he still has trade value. Very happy with Songailia at backup PF.

Emeka is about as good of a Center as you can hope for for the Hornets. Need a backup here too. Would be nice if Diogu wasn't hurt. Hopefully the Hornets can get him back next year.

The only player who showed up in the playoffs for the Mavs was Bass. Pargo, Chandler, West, and Peja showed up for the Hornets to compliment CP3 and even some flukish shite by JUlian Wright.

Granted, it was all a fluke, but the Mavs supporting cast was inferior.

Now the Mavs supporting cast is equal and the only difference between the Hornets and Mavs is their superstars.

Bower's done a great job, it's just the foundation of the Hornets is fatally flawed. No team led by Paul/West will ever win a championship.

This league comes down to your top 3 guys. If you swap Dirk/Kidd/Marion with West/Paul/Okafor, Hornets > Mavs... Pau/Kobe/Odom? Hornets > Lakers... KG/Pierce/Allen? Hornets > Celtics... Lebron for Paul? Hornets > Cavs

It doesn't matter how well you draft, how well you construct a team, if you don't have the stars you won't get very far in this league.

Look at Houston, excellent management that has stockpiled great talent and role players... but they're missing the star.

The only differences were Byron Scott and a hurt CP3. That is why the Hornets are 11-4 in January and the Mavericks are barely 8-6. By April, the Hornets will have a 5 game lead on the Mavs.

Care to make a bet on that? ... I'll wager ALL of my money that the Hornets will not finish ahead of the Mavs, let alone by 5 games.

Hornets need to turn Peja's contract into some assets and have another good draft. If that happens, look out...

Free Agents

Hornets need to resign Songailia, and if Diogu is healthy he'd probably be a good bargain guy.

They need to go after an perennial All-Star like;
Bosh
Amare
Boozer
Joe Johnson
Wade ( )

Or a couple of good role players;
Drew Gooden
Chris Wilcox
David Lee
Matt Barnes
Manu Ginobili
Quentin Richardson
Travis Outlaw
Anthony Morrow

and a couple of solid bench players that can produce;
Josh Powell
Chris Wilcox
Josh Boone
CJ Watson

PG: Paul/Collison
SG: Marcus Thornton/Anthony Morrow
SF: Ginobili (or Barnes)/Peja/Posey
PF: Gooden/Songailia
C: Emeka/Diogu/Powell

Lose West and Marks. In reality, Peja isn't going anywhere.

How do you think we sign one of these All-Stars with Paul, Peja, and Posey on the team?

If we got rid of Mo Pete and Peja, we might be able to sign a solid player, but not a max contract guy.

And no, we do NOT want Manu. We are the exact organization who would give him 4 years/$44 million only to see him fall off the face of the earth.

And you would rather Drew Gooden than DWest? Are you kidding?

I'd like to see us go after dalembert maybe for west straight up so we could move okafor to the 4

Cp3
mt5
peja/posey
okafor
dalembert

Not a bad line up

I assume that by throwing Peja in the lineup you think that this deal would be made before the deadline.

As such, the salaries don't match, and we are not taking on any salary after all the work Bower has done to get under the luxury cap.

Plus, that is way too much of a lateral move.

Nah I'm just in class not paying attention, I ment for next year because they would both be expirings if I'm not mistaken. Dalembert would be a good fit for our front court, just imagine okafor and Samuel blocking the frick outta everyone

That lineup would have no scoring whatsoever in the front court. Okafor could be a good PF, but you'd need to replace West's scoring somewhere, and I sure as shite wouldn't want Peja or Delambert trying to do that.

How about the loser buys the winner tickets to game 3 of a Hornets/Mavs playoff series. That way I'd get to make a trip to Dallas.
