You need to gain less than 1 yard....so you snap the ball back 4-5 yards in order to do so? Even if you are going to run the ball rather than a QB sneak wouldn't you want to give it to your back with with momentum running downhill vs. handing it to him while he is moving sort of sideways 4 yards deep
Dumb plays like this is why a guy like Tom Herman is no longer a HC
