Saban knew Hurts was transferring. It was inevitable, but he didn’t want him to waste his final year of eligibility at either of those two black holes.

I 95% believe this. it didn't matter where Hurts went to Saban at that point if it wasn't in the SEC, and he knew the Big 12 was a great conference to air it out and Hurts had already said Oklahoma had the best players
