Lecompte winner Internationl Star wins this race also. My question for the "horse" people. Do you think he can be a Derby winner? I am sure he has enough points to get in and it would be great to have a La based horse win.

That colts move on the turn, was special. When the hole opened on the rail and the jock asked for more it seemed like he jumped thru that hole. Very impressive. Chance in the Derby? About 1 in 20.

The winner of the La Derby hasn't won the Ky Derby, since, when, the 20s?
Now the winner has one other Triple Crown races, and the 2nd and 3rd place finishers have won it (the horse that beat the first Baffert horse by a nose was 2nd in the La Derby I think), but I don't think the winner has.
Fair Grounds has excelled on the filly end.
But I'm really worried about CD's continued ownership, coupled with a racing secretary who absolutely leveled purses for open horses, when he didn't have to.

Grindstone in 1996 was the last I believe, which was the first derby I ever saw. Before that it was 1924.
I dont think International Star can win the Derby. He could be a good little horse and I think Mena could get alot out of him.
Of course I've been high on Frosted and Imperia and they didn't look great at all yesterday.
Next is to wait on the 3 year old debuts of Carpe Diem and American Pharoah.
