I agree, but why take a chance?

a) Money speaks
b) They schedule these things years in advance usually... definitely have to go way in advance for BCS-level teams.
c) Why take the chance on losing when almost all the time, it's not going to hurt you to beat up on another cream puff?

Joke!

Doesn't matter if it's the way it should be or not, but we are 2005 Big 10 Champs.

Yep co-champs. Ohio St. was also Big-10 co-champs in 2002.

I just provided the OOC for Texas and LSU both. Not much difference in quality compared to PSU if you ask me.

Exactly when did I bring up LSU in the National Championship picture?? Wait, that's right, I didn't. I said Texas, USC, Florida, and PSU.

Nice try buddy.

You're missing the point entirely, but whatever. You want to downplay OOC schedules for teams like PSU, and then talk about how "weak" their conference is?

This isn't the 1990's where Florida State, Nebraska, Miami, Florida, and Michigan were the perennial powerhouses every year no matter who they played.

SOS doesn't mean shite. If it automatically crowned champions and winners in the bowl games, Oklahoma would have never lost to Boise State.

Let's look at Alabama.

A huge disappointment in Clemson to start the year.

Tulane.

Western Kentucky.

Arkansas State.

Wow... so tough.

For 2008 at least, the other 11 SEC teams disagree. They all managed to schedule a BCS OOC opponent.

True, but LSU had plenty of time to schedule a decent OOC opponent that turned out to be Appy State. They managed to get Washington next season and apparently WV in a few years. No excuse for this year...we didn't "need" that 8th home game.

Taking that chance got us into the title game last year.

Yeah, but it doesn't happen every season... we're going to Washington next year, but you're not going to see big-money teams scheduling any less than 7 home games, and usually 8.

The problem is just as much with other teams all being booked up. WVU isn't on the schedule yet... I thought we had also signed on for a home and home with Oklahoma, but nothing listed.

It certainly helped us last year, but we might have beaten out VA Tech anyway. In general, the risk isn't worth the reward for the big teams with typically tough conferences.
