that seems to be his mentality in majors....but why not set a loftier goal? clearly this come from behind mentality hasnt worked certaintly as of late. Has he won many majors when shooting over par in the first? im guessing 2-3

I agree. He's been playing well and is so even keeled. Did you read that SI article on him? He was talking about how he's anticipating the other players complaining about the unfairness of the rough or the course in general and that he'd know then that they'd already eliminated themselves mentally and said he hoped the USGA made it as hard as they could so that this would happen
. Said something like, "there isn't anything we can do about it, just gotta go out and play the course they put in front of us".
