I think it's a great deal. THe Rangers have tremendous pitching depth on the farm. These two guys they acquired are two of the top relievers in all of baseball. The WHIP and ERAs don't like. I absolutely am thrilled.

Now they just have to play better baseball!

Adams has a career average against of .196 and a career WHIP of 1.01. That is outstanding.

Not a fan of the trade at all by the Orioles. Chris Davis has proven time and time again that he can't hit major league pitching and Hunter is a pitcher who doesn't miss nearly enough bats and has limited upside. That's not nearly enough for one of the best relievers in baseball. At least get some young players with some upside and potential. MacPhail is a dumbass.

Thank God you're not a GM.

Chris Davis is slugging 800 this year in AAA. EIGHT HUNDRED. He's hit 24 HR's this year, and when given 450 AB's in the majors, he hit 21 HR's. Writing off a 24 year old power hitter before he has 1000 PA's in the majors is just silly. Davis clearly needs a change of scenery, but his list of most similar hitters at age 24 is frighthening: Delgado, Morneau, Stargell, Belle, and Burrell all appear as comps -- so do Dick Gernert and Melvin Nievens). He's no sure thing, but he's MLB ready right now and is a plus defensive player as well.

Tommy Hunter is rotation filler, but he's already the O's #2 starter. So they sort of need one. The O's flipped a middle releiver they had precisely zero use for (middle relief is worhtless on a team with no leads to protect) for TWO starters, and one with a high upside.

Look at what the PAdres got -- two 20 year old pitchers. Both are highly rated but neither are aywhere near the majors. And frankly, the O's were eyebal deep in top tier pitching prospects two years ago who have since graduated to theMajors and are now struggling mightily. The O's don't need more pitching projects as it seems clear this is not a GM problem but a development problem. The O's have about five pitchers 25 or under all just as touted as the pitchers the Padres acquired.

Instead of getting projects which will likely never pan out, the O's got young, cheap MLB talent that can contribute right now and has a huge impact possibility. Davis has never even had 500 PA's in a season. The guy just needs a season in the majors to either sink or swim. He'll get that shot in Baltimore. Maybe he can't swim, but it's certainly worth Koji, and his upside is far higher than any player in this deal. Hell, his current MLB numbers are a 248/300/455 line. If that's the baseline, that's not bad.

The O's did fail to then turn around and deal Reynolds or Guthrie, which is a major failure -- but criticizing the Koji deal is just stupid. That was the good thing he did. Failing to deal Reynolds for prospects at the height of his value? That you should criticize.
