I've heard that gambling is the main issue. I've also heard it's cocaine and co-eds. I'm sure it's something someone's athletic department made up after mismanaging the situation when trying to hire him. Norvell is a good coach and will get paid this offseason.

It's NOT phone calls to hookers on his university issued cell phone. That much I can tell you.

Memphis needs to rally behind Fred Smith and the FedEx boys to do all they can to retain him. It looks like Penny is about to make the Tigers a major player in the hoops scene. Make a commitment to the football program and you'd think Memphis would be on a short list in regards to moving up in a conference realignment scenario.

I heard from someone I trust is that it was cocaine. 2 years ago Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Tennessee all passed on Norvell and it was because of off the field issues. If it is as bad as some have said it is I could see him getting fired at a SEC school over it.

Let's face it - if Norvell really had skeletons in his background check that prevented him from being hired at Arkansas (again, he turned down an interview in 2017), he would be coaching HS, not FBS, football.
