The Washington Capitals are definitely an offensive minded team. You will see them on tv a lot, but they don't have many Americans. If you're into the historical factor, look at the Rangers, Blackhawks, Bruins, and Red Wings. They are the 4 American teams from the original 6. Columbus is somewhat a "southern" team, but they are a mess. I can't tell if the Florida Panthers are on an upswing or not. They did make the playoffs last year.

Check out the St. Louis Blues. Have some really good Americans in Backes and Langenbrunner. Halak, their goalie, played great last year. They should be on tv a decent amount.

I don't think Nashville fits your criteria.

I'll take a look at TB and STL. What about Carolina?

Still upset that the Winter Classic had to be cancelled. I was really looking forward to watching the Red Wings on 24/7 and the weather up here on January 1st was as about as perfect as you could want for an outdoor hockey game.

Go Wings!

I really just don't know much about Carolina. They have the Staal trio. Cam Ward is a good goalie. Can't think of many marque Americans unless you count Tim Gleason who is an alternate captain. I just don't hear much about them. Maybe someone else can tell you more.

ETA: They did just get Jordan Staal and Alexander Semin, so that should really help their offensive output.

The Preds are a defensive minded team that aren't shown on NBC unless they're playing Detroit or Chicago. They have a ton of games on Fox Sports South though.

Also, their best players aren't Americans but I'm not sure why that matters. I guess David Legwand would be the biggest name American for them.

Doesn't sound like the Preds are what you're looking for but they are a good team.

I get FSS, so that's a plus. Hmm. The defensive team thing throws me off.

The Preds are a defensive team that just lost their second best defender. They were a solid team last year though, but it was mostly because of their defense and goalie.

Hope they get this worked out ASAP. I'm itching for some Canadiens hockey.

And their PP was top shelf as well which helped a great deal. The Preds were eighth in the league in goals for last season.

We still have Weber and Rinne with Klein possibly taking Suter's place.

We'll see how much Suter's loss will affect the team.

I did enjoy Nashville's atmosphere. I was there for game 2 of the first round last year.

Tied with Tampa Bay.

ETA: here's the team stats if you want to check them out. Might help with making your choice.

I'm a STH and am having hockey withdrawals big time. Hope the season isn't lost. Which is stupid on top of stupid (this lockout).

Yeah, so I have it down between Carolina, Nashville, and Tampa Bay.

Might watch a few games if this season ever starts and some YouTube highlights to aid me.
