NBA Cap Question (Lakers/AD)

I understand you can go over the cap to resign your own guys. So next year when AD is a free agent, does that mean the Lakers can sign other free agent with the space AD now doesn’t occupy and then they could go over the cap by however much to resign AD?

No. Players who are soon to be free agents have cap holds that prevent teams from just playing around with signing dates.
