I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but it just seems that all someone had to do was look at the stats and analyze them properly to make a team that didn't have any loose ends in all aspects of the game.

Fortunately will baseball you get those stats because A) there are so many games, and B) each player has a detailed report of their history because baseball is such a tight-knit sport (it's formulaic with no clock and equal tries at bat for each team).

Right? It's just reading the numbers?
