FWIW
Now days the best players in NYC (and surrounding) also don’t even stay and play all their high school ball there anymore
Look at a guy like Cole Anthony, #1 PG in his class top 5 nationally, from NYC, he now plays at Oak Hill.
Few other top ranked guys of recent times as well, Mo Bamba, Hamidou Diallo, Jonathan Isaac, Donovan Mitchell.
They all go to these massive prep schools that are basically AAU teams (Monteverde, Oak Hill, IMG, Findlay Prep)
NYC HS basketball really isn’t that great
It’s just like the Knicks, has this huge allure “the Mecca” and they are awful
If anything among that area NJ HS basketball teams are better they seem to keep those kids in state

This as I’ve stated
The league now where most recruits, local players in college, some current and former players play at is the Dyckman league
This summer Floyd Mayweather’s team won it and he was courtside for the finals
