Will that stop players at all levels from doing it? No.

Will that stop coaches from teaching to go for the big hit as a DB? No.

Helmet-to-helmet hits are a part of the game. It is part of the risk of playing the game of football.

My bad, I guess intentionally injuring yourself and others should be encouraged then. Thanks for showing me the light.

Football is not a safe sport. It sucks really bad injuries can and will happen giving 15 yards won't change that.

So you think there would be the same amount of helmet to helmet hits if it wasn't a penalty?

Yeah, I do. It seems like it is more prevalent now than it was ten years ago. The penalty won't change the way a player plays the game. If you want to eliminate intentional (because it will happen on accident no matter what) helmet-to-helmet contact, it needs to be taught to high school players, which it certainely isn't at the majority of schools. As a SS, I was encouraged to go fot the TKO (turnovers and knock outs), encouraged to attempt lay someone out. Its part of the game. I played HS ball less than 3 years ago fwiw.

In college and the NFL Yes. You can not play good football without helmets touching.

For the pro Helmet to Helmet penalty guys

Why does the defensive player have to give up? Why can't you teach WRs not to jump to catch the ball with a saftey near him? Why can't you teach runningbacks not to lower there shoulder?

Stop saying this helmet touching shite, you usually don't get a penalty for helmet touching 90% of the time its a hard strike.

Football is not played like that and it never will.

Every weekend there are tens of thousands of helmet to helmet hits at every level. These hits happened before the dumbass rule and after. Helmets are going to touch THAT IS WHY THEY WEAR THEM.

Obviously you don't have enough brain to need a helmet. They are worn to protect the player, not to be used as a weapon. Not to mention that leading with the head is poor form anyway.

Stop with the weapon crap. You helmet is part of your body and in football your (upper)body is your weapon. Good form is what ever gets him to drop the ball.

Harrison needs to be suspended for 2 games for that shite. Same thing for Dunta Robinson's dumbass hit on Desean Jackson.

In both cases, they lowered their heads to lead with their helmets.

The fact that Harrison wasn't ejected after the second hit is pathetic on the NFL's part.

In old days football with leather helmets, players didn't lead with their heads cause it would hurt them. Now players act like helmets can be used as weapons and are just POS.

Harrison may be a great defensive player, but he's still a POS, just like his namesake Rodney Harrison was.

I agree James Harrison should just lay down and let the other team score.

because intentional helmet to helmet collisions are required in order to stop an offense

Using a helmet as a weapon is different from using one as protection.

Harrison used his helmet to try to injure the opposing players.

You use it for protection because you might get hit. If hits weren't going to happen then they wouldn't wear them.

No he isn't trying to injure players he is trying to separate the ball from the player and he did so successfully twice.

that's not how the NFL is going to see it when they slap an enormous fine on his arse this week.
