Russ shouldn’t have been MVP last season, 2017 was the first season in the last 35 YEARS an NBA player won the MVP while his team failed to win 50 games in a full 82 game season. Last person to record a triple-double average in a season (Big O) didn’t even win MVP that time, so what makes Russ’ season so different and more remarkable? I thought the best argument for MVP last season and which I maintain to this day was James Harden: 55 wins and the only player in NBA history to achieve 2,000-900-600 in a season, wasn’t like that team was a superteam James was THE GUY for them. Also LeGOAT and Kawhi made solid cases as well.
