This was under his news on CBSSports. Talk about getting slammed by your own team. I know he is a hot head and I know that he hasn't proved that he could close but still. Lidge stays hurt 55% of the time anyways.
quote:
Philadelphia GM Ruben Amaro and pitching coach Rich Dubee do not currently believe that Ryan Madson can be trusted with the ball in the ninth inning, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. While the team has already designated Jose Contreras as the closer and Madson as the eighth-inning guy, the duo reiterated the fact on Sunday. "There's no question that we think that Ryan is a great fit for us, but Ryan has not proven to us he can be a closer in the major leagues," Amaro said. "Can that happen? That's possible. Can we necessarily rely on him? I don't think so." Dubee wasn't so kind with his words. "Ryan Madson is Ryan Madson," Dubee said. "What did he do, take a crash course in how to close or something?"

I wouldn't be mad at Amaro because Madson hasn't been very good when he has been given the chance to close. What Dubee said would irk me though.

No different than a guy who is doing shitty at the office getting called out on it.
He's a professional, he can and should handle it.
