But the real question hasn't been asked yet. Of course they can't compete with the big-boy 1-loss teams. I'm not sure anyone's arguing that, and they're stupid if they are. The question is this: can they compete with Boise State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. I think they COULD (not would) beat those teams head-to-head. They're nothing special this year.
Memphis is ranked and they got skull-fricked by UCF. And they're ranked because they beat UCLA. Yeah, that looked good two months ago but they're not even freaking bowl eligible.
