Serious question..

How can someone follow a sport were there are so many inconsistencies? There are always new faces in the lineups and to me it really does not seem like there is much differences between the "stars" and the rest of the players. Just something I have always wondered and probably the reason I'm not a baseball fan.

I'm not gonna say this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard but it's up there.

You're killing me Smalls.

Is there a difference between Peyton Manning and Tavaris Jackson?

Certainly no more than football or basketball, relatively. Hell, just because of guaranteed contracts only, I'd imagine MLB teams stay together more than NFL teams. And as much as NBA, or close to it.

Watch Roy Halladay pitch, and then watch the Astros pitch.

If you can't see the difference between an All Star caliber player and an average player than you just don't watch enough baseball. Obviously baseball wasn't your sport when you were growing up.

I follow the game, not the players.

There's no difference between Mariano Rivera and Brandon Lyon.

No difference between Tim Lincecum and Javier Vazquez.

No difference between Adrian Gonzalez and Russell Branyan.

No difference between Troy Tulowitzki and Ramiro Pena.

No difference between Joe Mauer and Fransisco Cervelli.

No difference between Roy Halladay and Jo-Jo Reyes.

Do you want me to keep going? What a dumb thread.

They all have the same skills, the stars do it consistently. You have to watch the games to see how much greater the stars are then the average major leaguer

My main problem with it is the amount of games played. Is 162 games really fricking necessary? The season lasts like 8 months

I don't follow the MLB at all. Too long, no rooting interest, and don't care about many of the players. College baseball I love however.

To me, the #1 thing in baseball is consistency.

Anyone in the league can have a Cliff Lee type of day. What makes your Lees, Halladays, etc. stars is that they go out there and do it CONSISTENTLY.

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but having 162 allows for the cream to rise to the top. The best teams usually make the playoffs. Baseball is to streaky for it to be considerably shorter imo. Could it be 140 games or so ? Sure, but nothing shorter than that.

I don't get why people complain about how long the season is.

If you don't like it, don't pay attention.

No one is forcing you to sit down and watch 162 games a year. No one is forcing you to sit down and watch a single pitch.
