7:30 @ San Antonio

Not looking forward to the upcoming season with the loss of both Yao and the continual vaginal itch that is Tracy McGrady. Things were looking up for a possble Yao return until last week when he said he had made up his mind not to play this year. His progress with recovery is going better than expected but he doesnt want to rush back to risk a career ending injury. So where does that leave the 2009-2010 Rockets? A starting line up of

PG: AB
SG: T Mac (after nov 23rd)
SF: Trevor Ariza
PF: Luis Scola
C: David Andersen

does not leave much to the hope for a succesful season IMO. What are most Rockets fans hoping for with this upcoming season?

Here is my wish list. I always want to see the Rockets do well but this year it seems that a best case scenario is a 7 or 8 seed with a first round exit so my number one hope is that DM puts on a full court press for Chris Bosh. He has been saying throughout the off season that CB is his numbr 1 FA target for next summer and getting him via trade would increase the chances of landing him here long term. If this gets done we can say goodbye to the Yao Tracy "era" and move forward with a much younger more athleti Houston Rockets team. Since they are at best a bottom seeded playoff team IMO I would probably be just as happy if they tanked this year to get the chances up for a lotto pick and take either Wllie Warren or Malcolm Lee.

A 2010 team and beyond consisting of

PG: AB
SG: Warren or Lee
SF: Ariza
PF: Scola or Landry
C: Chris Bosh

is ideal for me.

We will see where the season takes this team but regardless, thank god NBA basketball is back!

Surprisingly, I'm looking forward to the bitching that will occur from Hornets, Maverick, and Rocket fans this season...guess thats because I just miss Basketball

We will be better than you think. I can see us contending for a 6-8 seed. I also think that T-Mac is going to play his arse off, like it or not. A contract year means more to him than just about anyone this season.

Ideally this season, we get a 7 or 8th seed in the playoffs, upset the lakers and kobe's head explodes. If this happens it would be the best season ever.

Seriously though, we can compete in the west, but we won't be nearly as strong as last year. Doesn't bother me at all if Yao takes it slow with his rehab and makes sure he's back 100%. The more healthy he is next year, the better it is for us whether we keep him or trade him. Look for DM to shop around McGrady too, if we're in the lottery for sure come January, there's no way he finishes the season with the Rockets.

I think he will attempt to as well but him getting injured at some point this season is almost a certainty. I am looking forward to seeing how TA plays under adelman. I also look forward to watching this team run a little more than they have in the past.

They want to run more, for sure, and they have the personnel to do it.

If we don't have a good transition offense this year we are really in trouble. Our inside presence is almost non existent without yao.

CB in a Rockets uni for next season would be flat out sexy. I am a Yao fan and hope he does well coming back from surgery but an all 25 and under starting line up for 2010 and beyond is the direction I hope to see them go

I would honestly prefer Amare, but I know they like Bosh better.

Depends on what your definition of compete is. Can we compete for a playoff spot? Absolutely. can we compete for a western confrence title? NFW

Yao getting healthy for next season unfortunately won't mean a thing for us if we get CB unless we can somehow work him into that trade. I do think you are right about TMac being gone by the ASB. There are enough teams who will jump at him if in contention since his contract is up at the end of the year. He could actually be a really good trade piece if he gets off to a hot start after his return

I certainly wouldnt hate either one. The problem for us is both are coming off the books at the end of the season and neither of the two teams are going to be in contention for a title so they dont really have use for our 2 biggest trade assets

McGrady will definitely be traded at some point suring the season, more than likely to Toronto for Bosh as they are in a similar situation with him.

The Rockets are so far over the salary cap that McGrady's expiring 23 million dollars this season would only free up about 9 million to sign a free agent. If we were to dump Scola, Landry and a couple other guys, that would be the only way to sign someone to a max deal.

But if we trade for Bosh we'd have Bird rights and can sign him for more than any other team. Toronto just wants T-Mac's contract to go after one of the big boys in the offseason, but I dont see anyone wanting to sign there.
