Field turf longevity

Didn't know where to put this but I was wondering about field turf losing its color by fading over the years. Some guy told me it can be repainted but I've never heard this before. I would think that is not a solution to fading.
Yes, I am a fan of UCA football but have a very cold shoulder to the purple/gray striped field. I don't think the colors will hold up. The company that installed the turf says it's good for 14 years and the athletic director says he'll be happy with ten. At $750,000 for a novelty of a football field I'm just afraid that we may have just purchased us a money pit.

From what I've been told, field turf usually lasts about 10 years.
