Soccer is a physical sport just like real basketball used to be. The problem is the idiots, particularly in the US, never watch or play the sport enough to make a real clear assessment. You aren't out their tackling people like in football and Rugby, but try playing Goalie on a corner kick. It can be one of the most violent plays in all of sports.
In the end, no one is saying its the same as football, but to claim it is a pussy sport is ridiculous.

Yeah it was. The last month of the season every time i got hit the breath got knocked out of me. When i played the guy i lined up against in practice used to love to do the club and he would knock me right in the ribs every time we went up against each other.
Hope you have a full recovery.
