In Sean Payton's book he talked about Drew's recovery and how worried they were. It was either a mini camp or the beginning of training camp (I think it was a mini camp) and Drew couldn't throw the ball far at all with any zip. Sean said they were wondering if they made a mistake.

This is the main element here. Drew Brees is a great talent and Sean Payton is a great coach. Together they created an offense of juggernaut. But still, why the Saints haven’t won more Super Bowl’s with them is a big mystery.
