Diehard Sox fans

I have been told by some Sox fans on this board that a lot of the fans in attendance at the ALCS are high rollers that don't represent the typical sox diehards. So, TV is how many Boston area diehards would watch the game, right?
Why did nearly half of the Boston households turn off the game when they were down big in Game 5? Is it b/c sox fans are really no different than many other fans? Well, with the one big exception of this air of self importance or uniqueness.

I think it's obvious that like alot of other teams' fans, some Red Sox fans have become spoiled. To suggest that the entire fanbase has that same spoiled, the hell with the Sox when they don't win mentality is wrong.
Fenway, however was no where near empty or significantly thinned out because of the fairweather fans that did leave.

Plus, I know a lot of DIEHARD fans that cannot stand to watch their team get beat because it hurts too much. I watched it the whole way, but was floating the internet at the same time, which is something I only do when they are losing. As soon as they started their comeback, I was back in the game.

I was actually able to sit through this one without whipping the remote across the room or having my wife scream at me

When the Braves were in the play-offs, hell even this year, I watch them when they are losing and the season is about to be over, because I will not be able to watch them for months.

See that's how I am and that's why I couldn't see a person who calls themself a die-hard could leave Fenway early when you won't be back for a game until April

I mean I would be watching the games in September and wondering to myself, why am I putting myself through this torment?
I miss Braves baseball already, even though they blew this past season.

That was me in'06 after the Sox were swept in a 5 game series at Fenway by the Yankees rendering the rest of the season as meaningless, that was brutal, but I did it anyway

Even just in the boston area? this date is from just the boston area, not the nation.

Compare our fans in 2000 when Peach Bowl was a big deal to 2008 where one loss on the road is looked as unacceptable.

Unfortunately a huge chunk of our fans leave our stadium by halftime or 3rd qtr if the game aint close.

I hate the red sox AND their "fans". Those guys that just jumped on board in the last 3 years but claim they have been fans since birth.
