people in ohio probably wouldnt even recognize chris paul if he knocked on their front door

meh, he finished 2nd in the MVP votes last year and is currently 3rd this year on ESPN's MVP tracker. he's pretty well known and has a much better chance of winning an MVP than you're giving him

Sorry; you're wrong. Only Hornets nutjobs know who he is. He has no chance to make the all-star game because no one knows him. Oh wait...

granted he is a nba basketball star so he is well known, not as well known as kobe, lebron, shaq, etc...

well this year he has virtually no chance. hornets have underperformed so far this year and i do not see any reason to believe this will change.

the MVP belongs to lebron this season. he's going to win in a landslide with how well the cavs are performing and how efficient he's been. i'd be shocked if paul doesn't win one at some point in his career though. he's already building up to it by finishing second last season and keeping his name at the top of the watch lists currently

you said it all right there. the reason lebron is being so highly considered for the nba mvp is because his team is playing like champions. sadly, the hornets were a pre-season #1 pick to start this season by many analysts and have since not lived up to this standard. this alone will really hurt paul for mvp considerations for this season at the very least.

What analysts were you listening to?

Most people did not rank the Hornets higher than the Lakers/Celtics before the start of the season.

Vegas gave them the 3rd highest odds to win it all in the preseason.

Right now, I think they're the 6th most likely team to win a title behind the Cavs, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, and Mavs.

espn nba analysts. you know the analysts that 99% of the country unfortunately chose to listen to.

ETA: I should have said western conference #1 or #2.

regardless, they have still underperfomed no matter which way you look at it.

I'm pretty sure all the ESPN analysts already had Los Angeles and Boston penciled in for the finals before the season even started.

I'm not sure Paul is even better than Deron Williams. They're different types of PGs, but Deron has proven he's the better player head to head.

Paul doesn't have the help that some of the others team have.

which is what people have said about lebron james for the last three years and guess what? he has no nba mvps because of it.

his team playing so well is one of the main reasons he is the leading candidate this year.

Vegas is on crack if the Blazers have the 4th highest odds.

So how does that effect how good he is as an individual player?

I would rank Paul as the 4th best player in the league.

Edit: maybe 5th behind Duncan (and Wade, Kobe, Lebron)
