I think that’s the real problem here.
Honestly, it’s at least plausible that they legitimately can’t get Whelen out because of the espionage charges. Two different administrations haven’t been able to do it.
But Fogel is basically in for the same thing (weed), went in roughly the same time and the White House won’t even talk about him. Biden’s press secretary side stepped every question about him.
Which tells you that this is all about elitism. If Griner weren’t a professional basketball player and an Olympian they wouldn’t have given a damn about her being there…just like they don’t give a damn about Fogel.
