As someone on here might know I'm a huge fan of TCU's defense. I know some on here are as well and I mentioned a while back that I would try to find an extremely detailed article I read a while back by Gary Patterson about this defense. Well I was able to find it as well as some other stuff for those looking to learn more about this awesome defense.
A short article by Gary Patterson himself:
Why the 4-2-5?
Gary Patterson's Nike Coach's Clinic article:
Coaching Philosophy and 4-2-5 Principles
Past TCU Playbook:
Blitzes, Coverages and Alignments
Good blog on TCU's defense:
TCU's "2 Read" and a Breakdown of TCU-Boise
Anyways, just thought some on here might want to read up and learn more, enjoy! Have a good Friday!

LSU ran the same thing last season..having Coleman at the LB spot.
Its also the best base defense to stop the spread

I'd do illegal things to get Patterson or Harbaugh at LSU.

We ran similar alignment and personnel, but we weren't running split secondary coverages or separate front 7/secondary schemes.

Its funny because right before I saw this thread, I started a thread that got wacked on the rant talking about how I would like to see Patterson at LSU.
TCU's team defense rankings last 5 years in PPG - 6, 2, 16, 5, & 12. In yards per game - 1, 2, 17, 4, & 28. I'd like to see what he could do with LSU's athletes. With that said I do like Chavis, and don't necessarily want him to leave.
I also really like Kevin Sumlin at Houston. The last two years Houston has ranked #1 in yards per game in the nation. 575 ypg & 44 ppg in '08. 582 ypg and 43 ppg in '09. Plus, he is familiar with the area and could help LSU sign big time prospects from Texas. If we did hire Sumlin, we would need to make sure we get a top notch DC on board as well, or keep Chavis.
