No, I didn't...are the regional semis in Boston or something (bout to check)? And I took Memphis out of the south bc the regional semis are in, of course, Memphis.
Yeah, BC is the host team.

Texas continues to slide....2 more losses and they might see NIT.
A&M has to get on a tear now. They're in need of a 4/5 over the next 2 weeks or they're just not getting in. They have no hope of winning the Big XII Tourney.
Pitt...wow, what a statement. I still think they stay #1 in west and U Conn in east...but the Big East race just got very interesting. Marquette and L'ville are gearing up.

Purdue with a strong win tonight...MSU has shown to weaken wehn away from East Lansing. Clearly a beatable team they are, but do they still stay at the 2 I have them at? They're probably going to be the Big 10 Champs - reg season - and that tough of a conference deserves a 2 as a tourney rep.
Meanwhile, UK is in danger. It's looking more and more like either them or UF is going to the NIT.
Clemson...big bounce back.

Definitely. A completely different team when Robbie Hummel is able to be on the floor and effective. In the 4/5 range right now for them.

Yeah, definitely. Blown away in that second half. Keeps them on the 2 line with not much hope now for a 1 seed.

A loss puts them square on the bubble (not going to call it yet, of course), right there with Florida. Might be able to keep them both in right now, but maybe not by the end of the weekend. Remaining schedule for UK is pretty hard too.
Tennessee, at USC, LSU, Georgia, at Florida

Agree. SEC could end up with 4 teams after all. That UK-Florida game at the end of the season could be a play-in/play-out game heading into Tampa.

With this bracket, I think LSU would have a good shot at the sweet 16. But then we get Blake Griffin

assuming lsu beats providence, which is a big assumption because i dont really know anything about providence, lsu matches up very well with guard dominated marquette in the second round. the key would be spencer matching up with james, but if he can match james then that game is very winnable for lsu. marquette has no bigs and gets very little from their bench.
of course, blake griffin would literally be able to name his point and rebound totals in the sweet 16, but i'll gladly take a sweet 16 trip after the last 2 seasons.
eta, looking at the schedule, marquette has @gtown, uconn, @louisville, @pitt, and syracuse coming up before the big east tournament. looks like they can forget about a 5 seed

glad you enjoy st.augustine.
09...I agree about getting to the Sweet 16 and being content. OU would totallyt run us off the boards. We just wouldn't match up.
Providence would take us to the wire, but we'd pull away and win by 8-10. Marquette...it would be a great game with a lot of driving and long distance shooting. I think we'd pull out a 3 pt win. Then OU would beat us by 25.
I definitely am not trying to put LSU where I'd like 'em. After 3 weeks, this is just where we've ended up.

Game Notes 2/19
Penn State deserves in. As good, however, as people perceive the Big 10 to be...my current thoughts tell me it's a league that is good against itself...but come tourney time, very few Big 10 teams will advance past the 2nd round. Tonight's Penn State/Illinois game is a prime example of why this theory holds true. Congrats to PSU, though...this was a gut check. Illinois did not need to lose at home.
Texas A&M has won me back over. I project them at 23-11 on Selection Sunday. They have quality wins and ZERO bad losses. They should finish 7-9/8-8 in conf play. I thought they were toast, but now I am a believer. Probably the last team taken, right after Florida, Kentucky, and Penn State.
Providence needed that win tonight, even though it was as probable as John Brady being the next coach at UCLA. It would have made them a lock. Louisville, Pitt, U Conn...they're the teams you gotta beat and the Fryars - well - they don't beat those teams for a reason. Say hello to one of the best teams in the Not Invited Tournament.
South Carolina didn't need that loss to State, but it was a road game vs. a quality opponent...so not too much damage done. Just don't lose at home. Meanwhile, Miss State fans on their msg boards think this win keeps them alive. Don't kid yourself. This league will be lucky to get 5 in.
Is Auburn, meanwhile, a team to look out for? If the can beat LSU on Saturday and run the table or win 5/6, then do some damage in the SEC...then yes they are. They're playing as good as any team in the SEC. If not a bubble team, they will certainly be a bubble burster. Not a team you wanna play right now if you're sitting on a bubble.
Tennessee is at it again. They go down to a more inferior SEC west team on the road. UT is doing quite well against the east, but man...talk about bad luck vs. the west @ 1-3. Thankfully for Pearl's bunch, they have a #1 SOS and an rpi around 20. In other words, 18 wins gets the Vols in, while it'd take LSU 23. Vols getting a single digit seed, however, is not looking good.
Florida beat Bama tonight and that was expected. If they would have lost that game, the SEC tourney was their last hope.
Miami, at 15-10, lost another much needed game over the Noles. Even though it was on the road, the Canes should have found a way to win that game. The U just isn't doing the things they need to do to parrallel those huge top 10 wins on their resume. My prediction is that these guys win the NIT. They're going to be scary next season. Florida State, meanwhile...ticket punched.
Georgetown is still slimly alive with a win over horrible USF. A win is better than a loss, though. The Hoyas have to win every single game and then get into at least the Big East Tournament semis to get a bid.
West Virginia did what they had to do and in the process, added another quality to win to their resume. Notre Dame needed it just as badly. The Irish are offcially doomed...no metter what. The only good team that the Irish matched well with was Louisville. Another scary team next year of LH comes back.
The Butler did it! They lost to another team from Wisconsin. Green Bay and Milwaukee, both, must feel pretty confident come the Horizon Tourney. Speaking of the Phoenix of Green Bay, are they now an at-large possibilty of they don't win the conference tourney? One would have to think the odds aren't so favorable, but they've got 20 wins in a semi-respectable league.
The Buckeys...tisk tisk and shame shame. Ohio State lost to Northwestern, who might as well be nicknamed the Spoilers. Illinois better be glad they won in Chicago last week. All of a sudden, the Buckeyes are back on the bubble and are clearly behind 4 other fellow Big 10 tourney
bound foes.
Nebraska is hanging in there. Their big night will be when they play A&M at home. Winner of that game perhaps sneaks in on Selection Sunday.
Utah won on the road at Colorado State. With that win, the Utes have sewn up a bid, no matter. Even though CSU is a bad team and the Utes didn't play so well (took overtime to win), 7-2 in this league is a feat.

Penn State deserves in. If they win the Big East tourney, I put 'em there. They're a 2 and staying put for now. I'll be impressed if they do win the tourney, although Pitino is not much of a proponent for dedicating blood, sweat, and tears to it when you know you have a 2 seed locked. I still have them playing Pitt in the c'ship game at MSG.

And the bracket will debut Sunday night/Monday morning. Mardi Gras break will finally allow me free time to sit and crunch it all together.
Once Arizona-ASU is done (great way to cap the night at 9 p.m. CT), I will be in the process of slicing open the field of 65.
