Oh yeah, ESPN will make sure it never happens again. That's why I said yesterday that no other team will EVER have that shot at redemption unless they go to a playoff of some type.

All it would take is a boycott of a BCS game and the playoff would be in full force.

Did you even READ the article? Because I don't see how you can support that conclusion from it.

The schedule was awful this year. 4 or 5 SEC games on at once? No games on NYD?

ESPN is dumb.

I think might be a big factor. The scheduling this year fell on some bad dates

I hope. I want to go back to the days of having a great day of football on the 1st of the year

That's because NYD fell on a Sunday - which had NFL games going on. That happens once every 7 years...

Yeah, no one outside of a few states gave a frick about our game. Not to mention, if you weren't emotionally invested it was boring as hell and once y'all got up 12-0 my guess is the casual viewer turned it off.

Okay. Great. Now how did that have an effect on the drop in last years ratings from 2009, since this is the second year of a two year decrease in viewership?

I know you're still butthurt, but make at least a feeble attempt at drawing a relevant conclusion.

I was thinking the same thing this year. Whatever happened to Jan 1st full of bowl games? I would rather that over a month of games every night of meaningless teams in meaningless games.

Wasn't last year's game the 1st for ESPN?

The reason we didn't have any Jan 1st games has already been posted...it fell on a Sunday and there is a rule about NFL only on Sundays. This wasn't the first time it has happened.

I do think that games being on Monday morning was a big reason the decline, as a lot of people had to go back to work that day. Playing multiple games at the same time on a work day morning is a sure fire ratings killer.

Are you under the impression that we're talking only about the BCSCG?? As I said before, did you read the linked article?

EDIT: Here's a chart that accompanied the article, it will give you a snapshot, which would be even clearer if you read the article.

That was ridiculous. All of the games I wanted to watch were at the same time. 1/2 1pm est.

But the Meineke Car Care of Texas gets its own time slot on 1/31.

At least bump the Toiletslayer Gator Bowl pre-NYD with 2 6-6 teams

There are just too many bowls now, nothing exciting about them anymore. They used to be looked at as a reward. Now, as long as a team goes .500 they get in one.

Bowl game ratings have plummeted because all of the games are on ESPN. The LSU-Alabama national championship game was something like the second highest watched college football game in the history of ESPN. If it was on ABC or even Fox, the ratings would have been better.

no USC in bowl game? I know that's not all of it, but it didn't help.
even though in 2009 SC played in the friggin emerald nuts bowl against BC, it was at the time the highest ratings for a bowl on ESPN ever.
