It should be re-ranked after the 1st round to avoid remacthes early in the Playoffs and reward the Top seeds.
Ohio State clearly showed they were way better than an 8 seed and Oregon shouldn't have been penalized.

I'm not sure if the other conferences would've agreed to the 12 team CFP without that guarantee.

The committee protected Texas & Georgia from OSU & Oregon.
