What is Tony LaRussa known for when it comes to pitching again?
That would be having Dave Duncan as his ptiching coach forever, Alex.

To elaborate further my list goes...
1. Scioscia
2. LaRussa
3. Guillen

Sciossa has to be in the discussion.
Especially if you look at game management and not just wins. However, since 2005 the Angels have the most wins in MLB. Also remember that Sciossa beat Torre twice in the playoffs.

I really don't see why Torre is really in this discussion at all. He had standout teams every single year and of course he was going to win some.

As far as I am concerned Torre's dream teams go back as far as 1996 when Jeter was a rookie and it was Torre's first year with the Yankees.

The Yankees weren't the best team in 1996 but they still managed to win. If we are judging a manager on the field and in the clubhouse, Torre has to be one of the best, if not the best.

How can you say Torre was a good coach on the field with all the outstanding talent that he had. There didn't even need to be a coach on the field for his teams to win. He was needed in the clubhouse I agree to keep all the egos in check.

Now in 96 Torre's team had talent, just like Ozzie, Mike, Francona, Bobby Cox each had talent when their respective teams won. Yet you are trying to simplify what Torre did. If it was so easy to win in New York why did they go from 1978 to 96 before World Series. To simply state the type of talent he had, when Wade Boggs was considered at that point past his prime, Scott Brosius came over from Oakland, Bernie/Jeter/Rivera where all young and you did not know what they could have been.
Because of Torre influence they became the players we know today. He was an early influence on them. I mean Bobby Cox had 3 hall of famers in his rotation yet could only win 1 Championship.
To not include Torre in any discussion of Top 3 or 5 managers just proves hatred what he was able to accomplish, or a delusional state of saying he had the most talent. When starting off the Yankees assembled a bunch of roll players and filled the gaps with young players who grew into superstars.
