carter was crazy good at reserve. he had some serious range.

no kiddin, he was off the freakin charts in high school. I travelled long distances just to watch his show, saw him play a dozen or so times.

I remember watching him with Reserve at a tourny in Portland Oregon and he was raining threes from all over the court

That was originally supposed to be DJ and Brother Martin

I couldnt remember how far back he was playing varisty. If he was taller he would be at a big time program

If I remember correctly he had offers from better schools than Baylor.

your right, he was not only starting as an 8th grader, but probably leading the team in scoring. I think Reserve had four out of five state championships in Class B. Only one he missed was when they were disqualified when they had "illegal recruits" Brazos brothers from somewhere across the pond. Tweetie had a major assist from Frankie Francois during that amazing run, the best I can remember, a kid named marlon Brumfield as well, man that was a loaded team. No one wanted them, Class 5a included. (and 4 A, they had the best teams through those years, Peabody was soooo dominant.)

i dont much about his recruiting. I just remember seeing him probably his 8th grade year just lighting people up.

I guess he wanted big time mins so he went with baylor?

kinda surprised me he wouldnt go to a bigger school while he was in high school.

He is five foot eight on a good day. Too short to go to a major school

Wacthed Tweety single-handely beat my high-school team in Lafayette a good 2-3 times. Dude was crazy good.

All the dude could do was shoot. He never passed and was scared to play defense.

I didnt say any of the larger schools couldnt beat them, I just said, they didnt want them. Too much to lose with nothing to gain. If I remember the game you are talking about, it was a squeaker. I may be wrong, but I remember going to the Lake Charles American Press Tourney, and I thought Reserve beat Brother Martin

My school had its fair share of talent back in those days. Should have won state the year that Reserve got booted from the playoffs, but lost on a last second 3 against an inferior team. One of the times was like when he was in the 8th grade too.

Reserve never played BM in the American Press Tourney.

BM played Peabody and Dallas Lincoln in that tourney.

They only played that one time in the Arena. They were going to do it again before Katrina hit.

i'm glad you had such a clear recollection. I saw so many high school games during that era, I cant remember. But I know I saw BM play in the AP tourney, could it have been Helen Cox, think maybe their first year?

i knew he was short back then and you are dead on about his shooting only.

im just surprised that his parents wouldnt try to get him into a bigger school for more exposure.

I wanna say somewhere I heard that his parents pushed him to Baylor because it was a Baptist school or something like that. More than likely that is wrong though
