Yes, Oregon State, despite losing his, is still the favorite to win the CWS and have a very talented team.

As far as him, I hope he is legitimitely a changed person. But, the fallout from this is still on him. He, and only he, made those choices. Choices have consequences.

His choices not only hurt himself but most definitely hurt the girl who was a victim in all of this. I care more about her having a good life after this than his lost "millions".

So where are all the posters saying he will pitch, and then saying he will get drafted......

Ok, so there's understandably the "frick him, can't be rehabilitated, child-molesting piece of shite, don't care what happens to him, should probably just kill himself" side. I am not asking anyone to subscribe to the alternate side, however, if you are him, what is your strategy going forward?

He's only 21, so obviously he can't just concede life. Does he just go away and settle for some manual labor job in some rural town? Does he transfer to some small school( I assume he's just a junior), and go the other way--go on every talk-show that will have him, speak at high schools, do community service, meet with every single MLB team he can get in front of? Is there an offensive strategy he can come up with that can at least get him a shot in next year's draft?

Why is that obvious? I sure hope his family and friends don't share your opinion. He most definitely should be on suicide watch right now.

ETA: This isn't me feeling bad for him not getting drafted, before someone claims that.

I agree he is a very high suicide risk right now. Poor choice of words by me. Assuming he doesn't kill himself, he can't just sit on his parents' couch and hide the rest of his life. I mean, he could, but my guess is that someone who overcame his crime--as heinous and as of his own doing as it was--to put himself in a position to be a 1st round pick, has some sort fire inside him that doesn't allow him to give up. This may prove too much this time, though.

Regardless, I'm getting off-track. Is there any path to professional redemption for him? I don't recall anything like this ever. I'm just wondering if I'm his dad or lawyer, do we try to rehabilitate his image with the hopes of getting an opportunity to play pro ball or just say frick it and move on into obscurity?

I think his MLB chances are dead. No team will want to have that stigma attached to them.

Best he might hope for is playing for some small independent minor league team. I doubt Oregon State would want that stigma attached to them as well at this point.

Asia? If he's really good, and depending on Asian views of what he did, he could still make a good living playing ball. And it may keep that MLB door ever so slightly ajar.

I wouldn't see why not. He's not on probation. Pretty sure he'd just have to inform whoever of his intentions to go there and update the registry.
