The King's grandson Sam Saunders is -4 thru 12 holes and is in a tie for 2nd one shot back of the leader in the clubhouse.
You think the King is emotional watching his grandson play? If not, watch his press conference yesterday. It's worth watching for the answer he gave to a question about a supposed 1 hour conversation he had with Tiger. Classic Arnie.

Sam was just in a playoff a couple weeks ago in the Puerto Rico Open. Plus being Arnie's grandson helps. I'm hoping Harris English can pull off a top 5 or 10 this week to get in the top 50 of the world to qualify for the masters.

In all seriousness, I figured he was a former LSU player.
Even if it wasn't an invitational I think Sam would have gotten in based on his standing on the money list.

Yep. He got to play in the Valspar last week and played pretty well. Score look to be pretty low so far. It will be interesting to see if it stays the same for the afternoon tee times.

He can make cut go to -2. Currently -1 and they are T70. Saunders at -1.
Looked it up and he has 24 spots higher ranking than Loupe. I thought loupe and him were switched for some reason.

Saunders is -3 for the day and -6 total, in a tie for 19th.

The kid's got a little fire in the belly. Made a double on 15 and muttered a few words and banged the club on the ground. Bounced back with a birdie on the par 5 16th.
