You go for 2 as late as possible to keep hope alive.

People always make this argument in these threads.

Y'all are wrong. DWI.
you should go for 2 earlier to know where you stand sooner so you don't run out of time later.

It's annoying seeing a coach down 15, score with 6 or 7 minutes left in the 4th, but kicks the field goal to cut it to 8, only to score with :30 left and miss the 2 point conversion and lose.

Had that coach gone for 2 the first time, missed it, he knows ahead of time that he needs 2 possessions instead of finding that out with :30.

You want as much information as possible as soon as you can get it. Your way does the opposite of that.

Ahaaaa you are the ultimate dumbass son. When you are against the clock with no timeouts if you are down 11 it allows you to save time by kicking as soon as you get in fg range and then onside kicking with the maximum amount of time left. You are stupid
What? You're saying kick on 1st down as soon as you can?

If you need a TD and a field goal, why in the world would you kick as soon as you get in FG range to "save time"??? Is this real life?

He would have needed the 2-pt conversion regardless. Better to go for it early and have more time to react if something goes wrong.

"keeping hope alive" is a fricking stupid and illogical argument
Nailed it.
