I think the greens are small enough to punish guys who just bomb it out there and can't find the fairway. Look for guys like Gary Woodland, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, etc. to struggle as they won't just be able to spray it and get up and in.
I like Tiger because the premium that will be placed on accuracy off the tee this weekend. Furyk and Sneads look good to me also.

As someone wrote earlier, I like Stricker, Kuchar, perhaps Zach Johnson.
Don't know if the setup is going to suit Tiger.

I've actually played Merion the past few years. Absolutely brutal if you aren't accurate. If you manage to hit the GIR you then have to hope not to 3 putt.
Unless conditions drastically improve, I doubt the winner will be -10

They will struggle to break par for a 4 day total... With no graduated rough, this course will play like Opens used to. When the ball goes in its gotta be wedges out. You won't be able to hold the greens from the rough and it will lead to a lot of doubles

AZtiger, i just posted on the golf thread looking for advice on courses in SE Arizona. I will be in Sierra Vista for a week starting Sunday. Any good courses in the area?

Not a whole lot out there... Best bet is probably Del Lago which is in Vail, AZ

It's going to be interesting to see how the USGA sets the course up. No first cut, long rough, slick greens and tough pins could make it a tough go despite being set up under 7,000 yards.

I would not be surprised if 10 under won this week.

Mike Terrico (sp?) said yesterday on svp that when he walked around the course he threw some balls down into the rough where he was standing then could not find them.....
That's the thing about one of us meer mortals playing this course, we would lose 20 balls in the rough

That's true. But the problem would be how long golf idiots would take to look for it.
